What a catch
'What a Catch' crochet art sculpture was a proposal maquette for a large scale installation on the sea wall in Manly, Sydney. The installation was designed for the annual Ocean Care Day festival and makes reference to unsustainable net fishing practices.
A traditional hand filet crochet technique was used by Tina Fox to create the words in cotton string.
The similar colours but differing textures of the string, stone and sand all combine to create a harmonious and subtle effect. The words of the crochet sculpture are better viewed from a distance, capturing passing attention and drawing interest to the festival area.
