Lorne Pier public art proposal
Gratuitous Lighthouse was a proposal for a major sculpture at the Lorne Art Biennale, sited at the end of the historical 200m long pier, crowning it with a temporary lighthouse.
Tina Fox proposed a giant 7m tall timber framed lighthouse wrapped in a giant crochet textile made by hand from cotton marine rope. The top portion of the sculpture would be illuminated by LED lighting.
Simple rope transformed into a lightweight, see through fishing-like net to create a beautiful and thought provoking daytime artwork and an enticing and glowing night time feature.
