IF THEY WISH TO BE WHOLESOME II

'If They Wish To Be Wholesome' is a hand made crochet work that manifests a statement attributed to the American Poet Emily Dickinson in the in the film 'A Quiet Passion'. Dickinson died in 1886 the year that Meroogal was constructed. Wether true or dramaticised the phrase speaks true to an attitude to hand craft and 'women's work' that has created an attitude of tradition and irrelevance to modern times that craft finds hard to shake.

Hand crochet from black cotton thread.
